15_bean_and_sausage_soup

15 bean and sausage soup for instant pot

Ingredients

  • Hurst "Hambeens" 15 bean soup (a sack of dry mixed beans)
    • Discard the ominously labeled "ham flavor" packet
  • Package Johnsonville hot Italian sausage
  • 6oz water
  • 15oz can of diced tomatoes, fancy in some way (italian, with garlic, etc.)
  • ~6-8 carrots, chopped
  • ~3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Spices (flexible):
    • 2 tbsp paprika
    • 1 tbsp chili powder
    • 2 tsp Badia complete seasoning (or similar)
    • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • 1 tsp oregano
    • 1 tsp thyme
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Procedure

Discard the ominously labeled "ham flavor" packet from the beans.

Put everything except the sausage in the instant pot. Mix. Set for 35 minutes.

When the instant pot finishes, it will start naturally depressurizing. While this happens, grill or brown the sausage and then slice it.

Vent remaining pressure from instant pot, stir in sausage. Soup's ready; serve with bread or rice.
